Here is that the carbide being harder than the sides of the arm, the steel of the arm wears out a little faster in the gravel and on the asphalt it is the carbide which rubs the most therefore what produces a balanced sharpening during throughout the wear of the carbide. Also the wear of the arm being slowed down by a heat treatment to be more resistant to wear. Therefore, the arm always keeps its cut in new condition during the complete wear of the carbide, for more performance and grip on ice and snowmobile trails.
